about

Track Name: Escalator
coming down the escalator
i think saw you
it's been a while but of course i remember
it was the face i knew

i'm walking off the escalator
and i don't have a clue
where to go now, i can only
remember how i lost you

you looked a little older,
i felt just like an actor looking for a line
i'll pull myself together
it's gonna take a while to get you off my mind
i don't wanna go there (oh no!)
i think about it but i know i really gotta move on
couldn't we start over (oh yeah!)
i really wanna try it but it's never gonna happen

here i am up on the platform
feel like i've just seen a ghost
i want to stop and give it some thought
but it's too late, and you're through the gate

time for me to jump on the train
i'm being pushed by the crowd
who knows you might come back again
tomorrow i'll get up earlier

back when we were younger
thought we had it all and were going the extra mile
i'll pull myself together
it's gonna take a while to get you off my mind
i don't wanna go there
(oh no!)
i think about it but i know i really gotta move on
we could be better lovers (oh yeah!)
i really wanna find out but it's never going to happen
Track Name: Mr & Mrs Jones
mrs jones is having the time of her life
she's kissing her daughter's boyfriend
sweetly on the mouth

but mrs jones feels sad inside
cos she knows it won't last
and since those days in ninety five
she's no woman anymore.

and yet she doesn't feel inclined
to tell the truth
she's old enough to know better
enough to fake her pleasure

mr jones is smoking cigars in the dark
thinking of his former life down at scotland yard

and no, he's not a bit ashamed to tell the truth
he never beat up anyone
he never laid a finger on
but his wife and daughter
his wife and daughter
they both know better

and no, they don't feel inclined to tell the truth
they cross their fingers behind their backs
they leave their troubles on the racks
for their lovely daughter
their lovely daughter
their poor poor daughter
